Thirteen Things about Tina Gerow

– 13 of My Favorite Fictional Characters –

1. Mr. Darcy in Pride & Prejudice. And yes, he was one of my favorites even before Matthew MacFadyen played him :)

2. Lizzie Bennet from Pride & Prejudice. She’s such a great strong character during a time period where women were expected to be not much more than window dressing and baby ovens.

3. Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series. Talk about a yummy alpha male!

4. Maggie Concannon from Nora Robert’s Born In Fire. I love the Born In series, in fact that book made me realize that the romance genre had changed since the books my mom used to read. And that’s why I’m writing romance today instead of sci-fi/fantasy.

5. Harry Dresden from the Dresden Files. What a great idea to take the tried and true down on his luck PI and combine that character with a wizard who has one foot in the world of magic. I must admit I was really upset when they canceled the TV show. Thankfully, the books are still available!

6. Harry Potter. I like the younger Harry Potter better than the older version, but JK Rowling created such a terrific and memorable character!

7. Darth Vader. Yeah, I know he is technically a bad guy, but I grew up waiting for the next Star Wars movie to come out so I could be scared again by Darth Vader. :)

8. Mr. Waldorf & Statler. If you don’t recognize them by those names – you’re probably not alone. They are the two crotchety old men in the balcony from the Muppet Show. I love those guys!!

9. Aloysius Snuffleupagus – Snuffy from Sesame Street! When I was little I used to be really ticked at episodes that didn’t have Snuffy in them :)

10. Deanna Troi from Star Trek the Next Generation. I loved the Betazoid powers and I could totally go for dating Will Riker. Woo Hoo!

11. Jean Luc Picard from Star Trek Next Generation. He proves that bald can be sexy! :)

12. Sherlock Homes. Can’t beat the original detective who uses brains instead of brawn. He was the grandfather for all the others.

13. Alonna, the fairy from my Maiden Series. Yeah, it’s probably cheating to pick one of my own characters :) but she’s my favorite.

Thirteen Things about Tina Gerow

– 13 Things My Husband Does that Make Me Smile –

1. When he calls on the way home and offers to bring me Starbucks.

2. When he stops me in the hallway and gives me a hug just because.

3. I know he feels bad because he doesn’t always remember to do cards, gifts etc. But when he does do them, they are special. Every now and then he will show up with flowers, candy, a stuffed animal, something small he picked up because he thought it would make me smile or leaves me a sweet note – and it’s uncanny, it usually happens just when I need it. :)

4. When I overhear him telling his friends that he doesn’t have that problem when they are all complaining about how their wives don’t let them go out with the guys or want them to do every single thing together, or complain that the guys’ jobs take too much of their time.

5. When I get up in the morning to find he and my son on the couch in their jammies watching cartoons and hanging out.

6. When he goes to Peter Piper Pizza and makes it his personal mission to earn more tickets than all the kids.

7. When he takes care of me when I’m sick – even when I’m whiney and miserable.

8. When he argues with the TV when he doesn’t agree with what is being said.

9. When he not only spoils our cats, but feeds and pets the three that often visit our back yard.

10. When he tells me I’m beautiful even with slept on hair, no makeup a t-shirt and grubby jeans.

11. When he puts his hand on the small of my back when we are walking side by side.

12. When he rubs my shoulders without me asking, when I’m stressed out or upset.

13. When he stands up for me without being too overprotective. :)

Thirteen Things about Tina Gerow

– 13 Jobs I Don’t Think I Would Enjoy –

1. Anything in the realm of accountant, CPA, tax preparer. Just not my thing.

2. Sanitation worker. They have my appreciation for doing what they do – I just don’t want to do it.

3. Anyone working with reptiles – ICK!

4. Humane Society worker. I just could not look at all those little fuzzy faces every day and not bring home ten or twenty. We already have some – we can’t do more. :(

5. 911 Operator. I’m not sure I could stay emotionally distant from all the calls that come in. It would be a tough job for me.

6. Most of the jobs on the show Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. I love the show, but realize I’m too much of a wimp to do all those jobs…lol.

7. Doctor or nurse. If it’s my kiddo or family, I can deal with all the blood and bodily fluids when needed, but in general, I don’t think I would be too good at those.

8. Crime Scene cleanup. Nuff said.

9. Telemarketer. I HATE getting those calls, so couldn’t inflict them on someone else.

10. The people that clean out the cages at the zoo.

11. Lobbyist or anything political. I’m too “say it like it is” to deal with political double talk on whatever side of the fence.

12. Someone who does body waxing.

13. Tattoo artist. Okay, so I can’t draw worth beans, but even if I could, it’s not like there are do overs in this job…lol.

Thirteen Things about Tina Gerow

– 13 Things On My To Do List –

1. Finish Triangle of Seduction before the end of the year! (And I’m behind! EEK!)

2. Clean out my closet so I can actually fit the clothes I wear in there rather than keeping them in the laundry room. I’m going to have to be ruthless. If I haven’t touched it in the last few months and it’s not seasonal wear like a coat or special occasion dress – it’s gone!

3. Clean up my Pampered Chef paperwork and get everything set for the seven January cooking shows I have scheduled! Right now, I shoved everything in my bag from the last show I did a few weeks ago and it’s a mess. Besides – there will be new guest and host specials by January and I’ll have to get those printed out and organized.

4. Work on my taxes. OMG – I’m totally dreading this. Other than putting all my receipts in large ziplock baggies and throwing them in my office, I haven’t done much at all this year. Between my hubby and I we need to organize taxes for four businesses, plus our personal stuff – EEK! You would think one of these years I would learn.

5. Clean out the laundry room. Granted, once I clean out my closet that will help since I’ll have space to get some of that stuff out of there. But the hubby and kiddo also need to clean out their closets for this to work. And then I can actually get to the stuff that belongs in there to clean it up…lol!

6. I’m scared to even write this one because just the thought of it makes me shudder in fear – clean my office. (Insert scary screams and anguish noises here.) Let’s just say my office is, well, scary. It’s going to take a lot of work to organize and a lot of help from the hubby and kiddo, and possibly a lot of butterscotch martinis to build up strength…lol.

7. I’d like to look into refacing our cabinets. They are really dark wood that is probably original to the house, and I’ve seen some friends who have redone them on their own – either painting over them or just stripping them down to he wood grain. That would do wonders for my kitchen as well as the bathrooms!

8. Need to get my carpets cleaned. Pretty self-explanatory on that one :)

9. Need to clean up my computer. You know, clean out old emails that aren’t needed any more. Clean up my contact lists and delete old files I no longer need.

10. I have cover flats from each of my books that I wanted to get framed and hang up, along with my first royalty check and the first dollar I ever made from writing. Okay, I cashed the check and asked for a crisp dollar bill, but that counts! I’ve never gotten them framed and I’ve never hung them up. I need to do that – but I have a feeling the cleaning of the office needs to come first since I need to find them AND I need to actually be able to reach the walls of my office to be able to hang them up…LOL!

11. I need to clean out my laptop bag. I’m almost scared to stick my hand in there any more. No, nothing gross, but over time you build up receipts, business cards, notes to yourself, mail, and other bric a brac you drop in there. I usually clean it out once a month, and when it gets tough to get the laptop in there, you know it’s time once again.

12. Now that the holidays are nearly here, I’ll most likely need to clean out my fridge when all this is said and done. It’s not bad yet, but you know how the holidays pack them full!

13. Raise a toast to myself if I get all twelve of these done! :)
