I’m back!

July 18th, 2010

A huge thanks to Frauke at Croco Designs for updating all the backend stuff on both my websites and getting me back up and moving again.  I’d given up trying to blog on here since my formatting was extremely wonky, no matter what I tried.

But now…I’m back! :)

So before I need to run off to work and caffeinate the masses, let me catch everyone up on my writing life (in case you don’t follow me on Twitter and Facebook yet) :)

I just turned in Galley checks for Seducing the Succubus, which will release on October 5th and is currently available for pre order.  It’s the first in my Sisters of Darkness series with Berkley, and I promise I’ll get an excerpt up on my site very soon!

The Demon and the Succubus, Book 2 in the series is with my editor and I should be seeing edits on that very soon.  It isn’t set for release until April 2011, so we’ve still got some time.  But hopefully soon I’ll have a cover to post so everyone can see.

I’m currently writing Book 3, which is tentatively titled Taming the Succubus.  No release date set on that one yet or on Book 4, which as of yet has not even a working title, but does have a simple idea/plot from the proposal and synopsis!

Let’s see…other than that, there are a few projects with my agent that I’m waiting to hear back on, and Into a Dangerous Mind, Stone Maiden & Fire Maiden are currently being translated into Bahasa Indonesian.  So if you’ve been dying to see some kick ass gargoyles or a creepy psychic serial killer in Bahasa Indonesian – your lucky day is coming! :)  I’m just excited that these books will get some more play.  I really love those worlds and hope to some day have time/opportunity to finish the Maiden series.  Dara & Odeda want their stories told as well!

Also, I’m currently booking slots for a blog tour to celebrate the October 5th release of Seducing the Succubus, so if you have a blog and are looking to fill some slots, or if you’re a fan and have a blog you love that you’d like me to see if I can guest blog on – drop me a line!

Anyway, must go change into my superhero…er…Starbucks garb and head off to earn my health insurance :)

Hope everyone is having a terrific Sunday!

Did my IQ shrink?

September 10th, 2009

In school I was one of those goodie-goody kids who got good grades, did all my homework, never cut class and was a total and complete band geek. So, band geeky, in fact, I was voted Most Talented Senior Girl.

So it’s a bit odd and nostalgic to watch my son go through high school kind of the same way. He’s not quite as gung ho in band as I was-I mean, I practiced during lunch hours and HAD to be first chair in every competition. The kiddo is actually just enjoying being in band for the sake of being part of the group. Besides that he’s even good at the subjects I wasn’t. We’re both good at English and History, but kiddo is actually good at Geometry and Chemistry that I had to study my ass off to get by in.

It was no surprise to me that he’s in several honors classes this year and that he’s thriving. But he’s also going through the inevitable culture shock about the increased amount of homework in Honors classes as opposed to the regular classes he was in last year. So, tonight when he brought home a huge-and I do mean HUGE–workbook packet for history that is due tomorrow, and needed to be done either before or after his several hours of marching rehearsal, I figured I’d be there for moral support. No, I didn’t do his work for him, just sat with him as he talked through it.

Honors World History and Geography-no problem. That was one of my favorite subjects and I’m a pretty educated woman.

Right?

~Insert laugh track here~

After watching him work through his 16 sets of exercises around the locations of different countries/cities/towns around the world I feel like a total and complete idiot…lol. And I have a bad, sneaking suspicion that if I had to take that class with him – I’d be begging him to tutor me.

Although I must admit it was something of a bonding experience for the two of us. While he was pouring over maps on the computer and we were searching for names and locations of countries, there were discussions like:

Me: “Isn’t it above Italy?”

Him: “Italy is the boot. I don’t see Switzerland above it. Are you sure?”

Me: Yeah, go above the boot, then up past the thigh-and it’s sort of the ‘crotch’.” Him: (with uncontrollable laughter) “Damn, it is the crotch! Thanks, Mom. I’ll never forget where Switzerland is again!”

By the time we got to the Asian pacific my knowledge wasn’t holding up very well, and when we moved onto Central America I was way out of my league. And you know what’s worse? This is only the third week of school!!

I can’t help but cringe thinking about how much I’ll realize I don’t remember by mid year!

Has anyone else out there experienced this phenomenon? Or should I just not offer to be moral support with homework anymore for my own good? :)

Back from Romantic Times Convention

May 2nd, 2009

Hi everyone.

I’m back from the Romantic Times Convention (okay, I’ve been back for a week) and I’m finally getting caught back up.  I’m two loads away from laundry being finished and only have a few things left in one of my suitcases left to unpack.

The convention itself was amazing, as usual.  I met tons of terrific fans, got to network with tons of fellow writers and got to touch base with booksellers, librarians and many others within the industry. :)

Thought you all would enjoy a few pictures.

I was on the Fairy Court for the fourth year and was on the Unseelie side (of course!)  Here’s a You Tube video of the Unseelie court.  I’m the first one.

Here’s the You Tube video of the Seelie Court.

Here’s a great You Tube that will give you the general flavor of RT :)

Here’s a picture from the book signing -

Here’s a picture of Kayla Janz & I at the book signing:

Great website links I found on Twitter

March 30th, 2009

After much peer pressure, I signed up on Twitter a week ago today, and I have to admit, I’m loving it.  I thought it was only going to be a time sucker and I was skeptical about how much value it would add.  But I’ve found new readers, fellow authors, info from agents/editors, and an amazing wealth of websites with some awesome information.

Here’s some of the terrific links I found today:

Useful Google Tools You’ve Never Heard Of

10 Popular Myths About eBooks

How to Sleep & Daydream Your Way to Success

110 + Resources for Creative Minds

Myself as a Superhero

March 22nd, 2009

Today is my 6 year wedding anniversary and I just got back from a nice lunch with hubby to celebrate.  Now I’m playing on the computer and generally catching up on Twitter (I’m at @TinaGerow if you want to Tweet!), Facebook, MySpace and all my other technology networking sites :)

Angela James posted a link to a site where you can make yourself a Superhero, so of course, I couldn’t resist trying it out.  Check out the site, and here’s me as a superhero below.  What do you think? :)
